Birthday Boy

A year ago this time we were scrambling. One year ago tomorrow is Asher's birthday. That is the day I became "Pops" and Bev became "Bebe." Now you know when Asher begins to talk those names may change. But for now it is Pops and Bebe. Kali and Scott are expecting again and we are going to be grandparents of another baby boy in September! PTL! Wow. Maybe one of these days they will move from Charleston back to Oklahoma and we can really spoil them. Whether they move or not, he is a blessing.

Be In Prayer

We started the Hong Kong Women's Walk to Emmaus #40 last night. Things are going well. When I got up this morning Jana had emailed me that Randy Hart was not doing well and that this might be the final hours of his life here on earth. Randy is a man of God and we will be with him again. Be in prayer for the womens walk and for Randy. Prayer for Randy's family and for God's mercy. Thank you New Covenant for your commitment to prayer. In Christ, AC

Lamma Island Fish Market

Here are a few pictures from the trip to Lamma Island. There were about fifteen of the Emmaus team who made the trip including Richard and Carolann Whetsell.

A Surprise of Joy

In 1975 there was a Catholic priest named Fr. Tom Hensler who invited 3 Methodist clergy to attend a Catholic Cursillo in Peoria, Ill. Out of that invitation has emerged the Methodist Walk to Emmaus. Fr. Tom was on the first walk that I was involved with in HK and he was on the same flight from Chicago to Hong Kong. He is a blessed man full of the presence of Jesus Christ. It was a real joy and surprise being able to spend some of that time with Fr. Tom.

China Bound

Life is full of adventure! I had to be at the airport at 5:30 AM Monday for the trip to Hong Kong. I flew from OKC to Chicago. The flight from Chicago is a direct flight to Hong Kong via a route North over Alaska and then over Japan and down along the China coast to HK. It's about a 15 hour trip and we were schedule to land in HK at 4:45 PM on Tuesday. As we were passing by Beijing we lost an engine on the Boeing 747 and had to make an unscheduled landing at the Beijing airport. I want to think that this was more of an inconvenience than a real disastrous situation. The pilot said that the landing was a precautionary move. At any rate I didn't get to bed until 2:00 AM Wednesday morning.

Wednesday seems a blur. When we are in HK we stay with some old friends, the Morrison family. They were our host family on our first trip to HK several years ago. Many of you remember Andy and Katherine Morrison. Andy worked on the NC staff as an intern for about a year and a half. I had lunch with Andy's dad, Ken, and then Wednesday afternoon work on getting ready for the Men's Walk to Emmaus. Wednesday evening we had a junk (boat) trip through the HK harbor to Lamma Island for a seafood dinner with the Men's Emmaus team. Thursday we started the walk.
